Why is the app so slow to summarize? Update notes show you think you improved performance by storing summaries on a server. I feel ripped off; a good idea brutally executed.

It would be better if the five excerpts were formatted better. The bulleted list looks lazy and sloppy. I also feel like there really needs to be a simplified article view when you tap to read... Like readability or Safari readers, rather than the full web page. A good start but needs improvement.

Perfect for reading the "gist" of all the news stories around the world, the US, and many other categories. You can also add your own newsfeed! A definite buy!

The app is beautifully designed and is great for my daily news reading. Not only does it summarize any article or text but you have the option to have it read the summary to you. Its almost like my own personal news podcast. And now, with Pocket support, its a must have for readers.

this is a really nice app. However it would be nice if the summaries were completed before clicking on the article. After clicking the article you have to wait several seconds until the article is summarized. The lag time makes this apps usability limited. it would be nice if all the summaries for the articles were already cached. The summaries are pretty accurate but can definitely be improved.

I will concede perhaps I’m missing the point of this app. I will also say that I’ _very_ picky when it comes to both sourcing my news and choosing apps to help me sort through news. That said, Gist doesn’t seem to offer any value for me. Its summaries are inadequate, the app itself is slow (presumably because it has to do the summarizing locally? I own an iPhone 5). There are no controls to manage news I’ve no interest in. Sorry to be critical but I just don’t find this app useful. On the positive side, its well built and clearly folks who built it know what they’re doing. Perhaps this is a milestone version that will yet meet its true potential. Until then, adios!

Just... hilariously bad article summaries. I came in thinking "how can anyone possibly do a good job algorithmically summarizing news stories?" Answer: right now they cannot. Hoping for an improvement.

I saw this interesting little app yesterday and tried it today and I was quite surprised by the results. A really fantastic addition to the AppStore.

I find this app becoming more useful day by day. It has an amazing design and contains tons of useful, summarized information.

Tried them all I think. This is the best. Cant say enough positive things. Design is amazing. Great work.

The majority of articles even in the curated categories list say never load.

1. Summaries never load. Considering that this is the point of the app, its a pretty big problem! 2. I use instapaper, not pocket, and theres no way to hide pocket in the UI. Furthermore it insists on saving things to the safari reading list, making me wonder why I even signed in to instapaper...

Doesnt seem to work after update. I hope they are working on a fix soon. Otherwise, kind of cool app.

Use this app everyday to get an overview of the daily news - so much better than just headlines. Love the easy link to read the full article, Pocket integration, and text to speech feature. Simple to use - no huge learning curve just to read the news.

With the ability to change theme, font, and text size this is a 5 star app. Perfect way to deliver news in this busy world.

I love this app. It is easy on the eyes and concise.

I like this app & getting summaries from news stories...however summarizing a lot of the news articles takes longer than I would like. With future updates maybe it can get faster but this is still a very good app, one of my favorites! Good job!!
